The Navigation Act 2012 is legislation which covers international ship and seafarer safety, protect the marine environment where it relates to shipping and the actions of seafarers in Australian waters.
Our search and rescue modules provide background information as well as information about preparation, principles of how to conduct a search and rescue operation and how to respond to specific kinds of emergency.
The International safety management code (ISM code) governs the safe operation of ships and pollution prevention. We are responsible for issuing ISM code certification for Australian registered vessels, however AMSA has authorised recognised organisations to conduct this service.
